1700s–1800s: The technique became more refined and terrazzo floors became popular throughout Europe.

Late 1800s–early 1900s: Terrazzo spread to the United States, especially in public and commercial buildings.

20th century: New techniques and materials, including cement, glass, and later epoxy, expanded terrazzo’s uses and designs.
Today: Terrazzo is used for floors, walls, countertops, stairs, and other architectural surfaces.
